Congratulations to Florence on being on the cover of the prestigious Vogue Magazine for the first time ever! She graced the February issue with a lovely photoshoot by Daniel Jackson featuring an article by Gaby Wood, where she talked about her personal life, getting a tattoo, working hard, making Little Women and the upcoming Black Widow.
“I didn’t quite know what it was to be involved in one of these films,” she says of the Marvel enterprise. “Obviously you have to be physically able because the whole point,” she adds with irony, “is that you’re a super-hero.” But the rest, she was told, was up to her. Pugh headed straight to the warehouse where the stunt people were hanging out. “Learning from them was my favorite part,” she says, Although she had a stunt double, she wanted to know how to do it all—and as Black Widow’s director, the Australian filmmaker Cate Shortland, reports, Pugh did most of her own stunts: “She is bloody scary. Steely. Absolutely will not back down. She has a healthy amount of anger in her as a person, at the injustices she sees around her.”
Florence graced the cover of December’s issue of ES Magazine.
She talked about her siblings inspiring her portrayal of Amy in Little Women, getting along with her co-stars, feeling insecure about her body in the past and the pressure of Hollywood.
‘When you go out there [LA] as a baby-face, fresh thing who is eager to please, they will make you into whatever they need to make you sell, essentially. You need to know exactly what you are representing when you go into meetings so if someone says, “That’s really cool you don’t pluck your eyebrows,” that you don’t f***ing, like, die and whimper.’ She ups tempo. ‘No I don’t want you to cut my hair. No I don’t want you to wax my upper lip. I have a face and hair grows out of it. Please leave me alone.’
The story came with four beautiful photos shot by Paul McClean and an interview with Rachel Dove that you can check out here.
Our gallery has been updated with the photo session and scans of the printed magazine. Enjoy!
